This is my first Von Trier film (what a doozy). It's definitely not to everyone's taste, and like Showgirls, you have to WANT to see it. It's not just some movie you randomly pick on a whim. The story itself explores this not-so-innocent topic with as much innocence as possible, notably the copious amounts of humor sprinkled throughout, which I wasn't really expecting. Unbelievable cast. Seeing Christian Slater in a movie like this was hilarious. I also gave this 5 stars because even though I haven't seen any other Von Trier films, I know most of them are bold shockers. Despite how controversial he might be, we need directors like this to make things interesting and to start conversations. I really don't want to see the second one. It looks more gross than the first. Next up: Breaking the Waves! Heard that's one of his best.
