Although this is the original, the main character isn't as likable as the Tom Cruise version. The finale makes up for the shortcomings. Still an enjoyable film. I have never been so attracted to this story that I wanted to watch it repeatedly, but it is very interesting. I think if I had to pick, the American version probably appealed to me more.
