Even if the script (written by the director and Mateo Gil) and direction are patchy, the obsessive theme is gripping. Go to Full Review Jeff Millar Houston Chronicle Jul 21, 2005
If you're the type who doesn't mind jigsaw puzzles unassembling themselves as you assemble them, if you enjoy enigmas and don't need explanations, the film just might work for you. Go to Full Review Paul Julian Smith Sight & Sound Dec 2, 2002
Amenbar's virtuoso style and connection to the youth audience, both of which are resented by the Spanish film establishment, make him a plausible model outside Spain for a European cinema that bridges the gap between arthouse and mainstream. Go to Full Review Sergio Benítez Espinof Apr 15, 2020

Curtis C @RT15682710 Sep 19, 2026 This could have been great but the plot killed itself and woke up 1000 years later and killed itself again See more T M @RT55749265 Aug 25, 2026 Interesting premise but confusing in its execution. Vanilla Sky is more entertaining for sure, but this still has moments.it just doesn't emotionally grab you. See more Alain E @AlainE Jun 20, 2026 Despite offering unobstructed view of Penelope Cruz’s very nice round breasts the second half became boring and unwatchable. I would "instantly want to see it again ", the same way I always ask my dentist to repeat the procedure the moment she finishes with a root canal. See more Leaburn O @RT35452347 Jun 9, 2026 As is often the case, the foreign language original was better than the Hollywood remake. The questioning of reality can haunt any viewer. It taps into serious philosophical and psychological themes that resonate to this day. Watched on DVD. See more Leprechaun K @LeprechaunKing Mar 15, 2026 The writing keeps it interesting in the first half and really pushes the envelope toward the end. Although this is the original, the main character isn't as likable as the Tom Cruise version. The finale makes up for the shortcomings. Still an enjoyable film. See more Monica B @Chartreusea Mar 7, 2026 Honestly, I know this is the original , but the Tom Cruise version is more polished, has better music, and the female roles are richer. The lead is a good actor. But this story needs that Hollywood touch. See more Read all reviews
