The scares become predictable, the found-footage gimmick feels repetitive, and the story relies too heavily on explaining things that were scarier when left mysterious. See more Severino A @RT32620831 Aug 6 As a horror enthusiast both in print and in film for the past 40 or so years, I think this film is a bit frustrating because there is so much senseless killing of innocent characters who merely protect their child. Had the plot shown a successful exorcism ritual, it would have been better and it would have refreshed the rotten, overused tropes. Unfortunately, the plot renders the efforts of the parents useless, thus making the film unidirectional from the start, making it appear more like a massacre film than a battle between good and evil. This is worse than watching your favorite characters die in utter uselessness just like what they did in the Walking Dead series. The film wrongly developed Leila's father and mother only to end up dying lackluster, irrational deaths. I do not see any reason, though, how Tobi could be that invincible. This film leaves many feeling unaccomplished. "Symbiote"-like effects are great but screenplay and plot are garbage even by the lowest standards. See more Declan D. @filmbuffkid Apr 9 Well that was horrible, the plot was scrambled everywhere and the whole time travel with recurring characters in that timeline was very similar (*clears throat* back to the future) the acting was very corny but not as corny as “Regretting you and Snow White (2025)” but the only good thing about this movie is the visual effects, like the visual effects are so dang impressive but the 3-D shots of the hand coming up to cam was kinda boring and over used, For example Friday the 13th part 3 in 3-D, they do it too much and they do it here too. See more Bret M. @BretM-3 Mar 21 This is now the new worst Paranormal Activity movie. Mainly because I have one glaring issue that really annoys me about this movie. But before that, there is one thing I really enjoyed about it, and that's the continuation of the "Creepy Black-Magic Time Travel" stuff introduce in the last movie. I enjoyed that the girls in the tape from 1988 were interacting with the characters from the present, and the fact that they had a video of Hunter from 1992. That stuff is cool. But what I really don't like about this movie is how much we see of "Toby." What makes the first few movies extra creepy is that you can barely see the entity scaring the people and that you only get small glimpses of him. That was creepy and kept you on your toes. But in this movie you can see him oozing around the house like a Symbiote! Then in the end of the movie when they're doing the exorcism,you can basically 100% see him and know exactly what he looks like.Overall,I guess this movie isn't bad,but it’s not good See more Read all reviews
