Robert S @ROKJR Sep 5, 2026 There were touching and pleasant moments in the film but not enough to justify two hours. Driver was unrealistically bland and uninteresting - even for a "deep thinking" bus driver. Farahani was wonderfully upbeat and comical but she deserved a much less paternal script. See more Rob C @RT91822897 Jul 19, 2026 Paterson is a moving mindfulness meditation about nothing in particular. Much like, 'Perfect Days', in exploring the mundanities of someone's week, the mind is taken to some extremely deep places. The film's protagonist, Paterson is a bus driver and poet, with a simple life, in a beautiful, loving relationship with his artistic girlfriend, Laura. He walks his dog, Marvin, to his local bar every evening to shoot the breeze with friends and by the end, I found myself wanting his life for a day - or at least his dedication to it. The film culminates in a mystical moment of synchronicity, of the kind that can only be rewarded through the act of full participation. LOVED. See more TI H @MeInCharacter May 4, 2026 I would be remiss if I didn't tell you that I did fast-forward through a handful of spots in the film, because I don't like poetry, even though I imagine the poetry was pretty good. That means I might have missed a thing or two, but not enough to downvote PATERSON. /// I want to tell you that this is the story of a quiet-spoken poet who is on a journey to get his writing seen by others. But never does this movie make that clear, nor should it. It's just that I need to see it that way, or I won't be able to accept the open-ended denouement of the film. But it's not a Lady-or-the-Tiger ending either. The movie doesn't set you up for an anti-climax. The whole movie is anti-climax, slice-of-life. /// Our main character is named Paterson, and he drives a bus down Paterson Street in the New Jersey Town of Paterson. That is only the first coincidence of the movie, and by the end credits, I dare you not to feel as though all the coincidences don't add up to something supernatural. See more Red in D @redindenver Mar 29, 2026 Why did I watch this movie? Adam Driver ... THAT's why. Unfortunately, the movie wasn't interesting at all. It was like a day in the life of two extraordinarily ordinary people who live a drab, boring life and seem to be okay with that. There is a TON more drama in my own life. It was so boring that my mind kept drifting, and I got distracted by my dogs/cat, the internet, etc. etc. So I've now watched 3/4 of the movie and am not going to finish watching it. I wish I could get that hour and 45 minutes back. See more Tim G @tmgreene22 Mar 14, 2026 Not sure there is a ton of there there but a pleasant enough quiet diversion. See more Read all reviews
