All of this potentially extraneous stuff -- extensive flashbacks, musical numbers, animated experiments -- are what make Plankton fun while simultaneously creating the impression that the story at hand is on the static side.

PLANKTON The Movie is a huge upgrade from the awful Sandy cheeks movie. While we did not need a spinoff movie about plankton. Its pretty funny and has an average lore from an animated goofy movie.

Giving Plankton a solo film proved to be a worn-out idea, lacking the magic of the original material. The conflict dynamic with Karen is stretched to the limit in a noisy script, with forgettable songs and an overly childish humor that lost all the intelligent irony of the classic series.
