The players hardly fail the material, but the Jim Thomas-John Thomas screenplay defeats all concerned. Go to Full Review

At first, the film seems no more than an old-fashioned monster-movie... However, there is a more disturbing sub-text, reminiscent of the cinematic aliens born of the Red scare of the Fifties, but rendered here more self-consciously for the Nineties. Go to Full Review

It's filled with characters we don't care about and an alien creature we're not really allowed to understand. Go to Full Review

Having Glover speak dialogue along the lines of "What the ----?" is like serving caviar on spam. The whole cast is better than "Predator 2" deserves. Go to Full Review

Romas M @Romas 2d Greetings from Lithuania. "Predator 2" (1990) is simply put, one of the best sequels ever or at least in my opinion it is. There were a lot of negative response regarding this picture when it came out. After watching this movie for 7-10 times in my life (seriously) I simply can not understand, why was this negative reaction. These are the reasons why in my opinion "Predator 2" is superb entertainment, based on negative stuff that I have read: 1) The setting. It's a sequel, so if it would be set in jungle again, it would repeat itself. "Predator 2" takes place in urban setting, so it's 360° different than the first picture. 2)No Arnie. Really? Is that an issue? How realist is would be if out of nowhere, the same person would encounter the creature from outer space on second time. Yes, there are legendary examples like "Alien" franchise (only first two pictures), but I don't think it would have worked equally good in this franchise. 3)D.Glover is not an action hero. Not true! See more Pedro Henrique C @Pedro2005 3d Predator 2 (1990) This sequel is already better than the first in that it introduces the predator at the beginning of the film, because in the first one the alien takes quite a while to appear on screen. See more Richard P. @TeamPendarvis 5d Great sequel to a great original. See more J B @Hooly Jan 27 Unbelievable RT! I'm rethinking my subscription. You've missed a trick here & so have so called fans. This is a worthy sequel. I saw it on release, loved it then & still do - my only complaint is it should be longer. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this film - DO NOT LET ANYONE ELSE TELL YOU OTHERWISE! Just watch it - if you haven't. It's a classic 80's movie. If you don't think it is - you weren't there! I despair. You watch the drivel that studios "produce" now - 2026 and tell me it's better. I dare you. I double dare you. Don't get me wrong, Prey is, despite some errors, a worthy & modern classic in the sequence. I'm all for new work - just none around, anymore. History repeats itself - as with Prey, there's the cgi travesty of Badlands. It matches District 9's directors path - great new film - 2nd one - Chappie - oh dear. Hollywad never learns. I'm old enough to realise this now. Take my word for it. This is a GREAT FILM. See more Sioux B @moviewatcher87 Jan 16 The movie has a great protagonist, with action-packed scenes, but fails to have the same thrill, tension and suspense as its predecessor. See more Lydia R @SweetRoxy Dec 23 Cons: None of the main characters were memorable or survived long enough for me to care about them. Having a predator film be set in a city as opposed to the jungle fell really flat for me. This predator felt a lot less intimidating than the predator in the first movie. Maybe it was just because this predator was a less experienced hunter, but I feel like for a sequel, this predator should have been more menacing than in the first movie to keep things interesting and unpredictable. Pros: There was only one character who somewhat stood out to me in this movie (he didn't survive very long though), and that was Jerry Lambert. His sense of humor was funny enough, and I was sad he didn't last longer than he did. I respect this movie for giving the predator new technology that wasn't used in the first movie, and I also commend this movie for at least trying to follow the predator lore (specifically the honor code that the hunter species follows) that was established in the first film.
