See more Wayne K @WayneKelso Aug 25 It’s incredible how Eon Productions managed to kill the Bond franchise, successfully resurrect it and then very nearly kill it again, but that’s what happened with Quantum Of Solace. I’ve never been the biggest fan of Daniel’s Craig’s tenure as Bond, but QOS would be bad no matter who was wearing the tuxedo. Shockingly bad direction and editing, a weak script, a convoluted mess of a plot and a villain who’s more irritating than dangerous. Remember when Bond villains used to have plans that involved destruction and/or world domination? Well now they want to monopolise a country’s water supplies. They even get his death wrong, being handed a perfect opportunity to make his demise a piece of delicious irony and completely squandering it. So many characters are pointless, the action is incoherent and its so full of such annoying plot devices and dumb character decisions that you end up feeling disengaged from it. Easily one of Bond’s weakest adventures. The action is solid, yet the espionage, intrigue, and memorable villains that define the best Bond films are largely absent. A decent thriller that ultimately feels like filler. See more David D @David2026 Jul 16 Moving to a developing story format restrains what might normally be expected in a Bond movie. Additionally, it's a grittier story, with harder characters and less of the charm, wit and lady killer elements from the earlier movies. The issue with this is that space is well populated, Mission Impossible etc. By trying to evolve, Bond has been become homogenised. That said, it's a good film.
