Primatologist Davis Okoye shares an unshakable bond with George, an extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla that's been in his care since birth. When a rogue genetic experiment goes wrong, it causes George, a wolf and a reptile to grow to a monstrous size. As the mutated beasts embark on a path of destruction, Okoye teams up with a discredited genetic engineer and the military to secure an antidote and prevent a global catastrophe.

*Rampage* bebe diretamente da fonte dos filmes de monstros gigantes — especialmente **King Kong** e suas releituras modernas — mas troca o terror pelo espetáculo blockbuster. A narrativa começa com uma base emocional surpreendentemente eficiente: a relação entre Davis e o gorila albino George. Há ali uma amizade construída no silêncio, na linguagem de sinais e na confiança, algo que humaniza o filme e cria sua melhor camada dramática. Quando o experimento genético transforma George em uma criatura colossal, o conflito deixa de ser apenas "homem vs monstro" e se torna "homem tentando salvar seu melhor amigo". O problema é que o roteiro abandona rapidamente essa profundidade para seguir o caminho mais seguro e previsível do cinema-catástrofe. A produção é grandiosa, com destruição em larga escala e uma Chicago transformada em arena de batalha. This movie was terrible... one of those switch your brain off kinda movies that make no sense about anything. Guess thats what the 71% percent that liked this movie can naturally do. It even tried to yank at heart strings with poorly rendered cgi creatures, that apparently many peole cried for, not realizing the creatures weren't real

Quite enjoyable big critter movie loosely based on a video game. Fun with lots of action. Popcorn movie. Special effects are pretty decent. Faces paced and a great cast make up for a Ludacris plot and a so-so screenplay.
