In remote Western Australia, two estranged brothers, Colin (Sam Neill) and Les (Michael Caton), are at war. Raising separate flocks of sheep descended from their family's prized bloodline, the two men work side by side yet are worlds apart. When Les's prize ram is diagnosed with a rare and lethal illness, authorities order a purge of every sheep in the valley. While Colin attempts to stealthily outwit the powers that be, Les opts for angry defiance. But can the warring brothers set aside their differences and have a chance to reunite their family, save their herd, and bring their community back together?

A rare remake that preserves the heart of the original, Rams draws on the chemistry of its talented veteran stars to explore complicated -- and often comedic -- sibling ties.

It is an odd experience, and I wonder what it would be like if I hadn't seen the original...a strange comedy in a remote area...but well-worth checking out... Go to Full Review Larushka Ivan-Zadeh Metro Newspaper (UK) Feb 11, 2021

Watching Neill coo 'you are beautiful, no, you are beautiful' to his flock is entertainment factor alone but this is an unexpectedly lovely little film. Go to Full Review Mike D'Angelo AV Club Feb 6, 2021

Neill and Caton complement each other terrifically, their fiery partnership sells the entire film. Go to Full Review Alex Behan The Post NZ Sep 24, 2021
It's funny and sad, but with feel-good vibes, and I know this is a terrible, intentional pun but - it's a really good yarn. Go to Full Review Stephen Applebaum Radio Times Jun 17, 2021

While the film moves at a pace that could be too leisurely for some, director Jeremy Sims convincingly captures the farming backdrop, and his film's tenderness and charm prove irresistible. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Aimee' J @RT58857992 Apr 10, 2025 Sit back and absorb the beauty of artistry. The cast is perfectly matched to their characters and bring a genuine feel of compassion. See more KB B @Okbullard Jun 10, 2024 This was such a good movie with great acting and storyline. I prefer action or sci-fi but I can appreciate a good drama/comedy for a change of pace. It's definitely worth the watch. See more Georgan G @RT98616417 Jan 26, 2023 Interesting on so many levels, this film portrays 2 brothers who haven't spoken in 40 years. Well acted and written. Love being slowly given hints as to what their divide was related to. And the very best ending. See more Aug 23, 2021 Rams (C-) (72) Oddly entertaining.. had so many weird moments though... Loved some scenes and others felt very odd.... Not always in a good way. See more Ken R @RT36478503 Aug 6, 2021 Rams – An Aussie Re-run This Australian remake of a prizewinning 2015 Icelandic film classic (of the same name) makes for a pleasing watch but goes for a lighter approach than its famous predecessor. The bright Western Australian countryside is well utilized as against the bleak, frosty, windblown setting of the dramatic original. Performances are uniformly fine with all bringing this well-made, sorrowful tale, of family dysfunction to a satisfying (albeit upbeat) close. Antony Partos provides the music score. See more dave d @RT34924333 Jul 11, 2021 Love Michael Caton, but I was lukewarm on 'Rams' the original from Iceland, and feel entirely the same about the Aussie version! Part screwball comedy, and part feel-good, but not enough of either. It just didn't work all of the time and while there are moments, there may not be enough for everyone's taste. If you don't like this, go check out Caton in 'The Castle'. Final Score: 6/10 See more Read all reviews
