I had an inkling that I wouldn't like the movie with the glorification of target practice in the beginning of the movie. I find it disconcerting that Hollywood that always opposes the right to bear arms for law abiding citizens, and is afraid of firearms, seems fascinated by firearms. Real LEOs take firearms seriously and don't take using them in self defense lightly. I had a friend that was killed in the line of duty, because he hesitated when confronted with taking another human's life. When the movie jumps into the cops becoming vigilantes in 10 minutes with almost no background motivation it became ludicrous. The same characters that they are killing are the ones they support having no bail in real life. I grew up in NYC. I left in 1978, the era of Death Wish and Taxi Driver. Those movies built up to the vigilantism. De Niro should be ashamed when you juxtapose this movie to Taxi Driver.
