When the creaky old Rocky ran up the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art with his newly adopted dog Punchy, reached the top, and punched the air in triumph, I wiped away a tear or two. Because those are not just steps.

This movie is for Rocky fans! I watched it in the cinema in London when it was released and 2 younger men were cracking jokes about it at the start mocking it. I very rapidly told them to STFU….have some respect, Rocky is an icon! Let’s not forget film can be about story-telling, mythology and escapism.

هذا الفيلم من أروع وأعظم الأفلام التي عرفتها بعد الجزء الأول، الفيلم أعاد روح وطابع الجزء الأول بطريقة راقية جدًا، وأداء ستالون كالعادة عبقري وملئ باللحظات المؤثرة، وكانت المشاهد قوية، بما فيها مشهد حديث روكي مع ابنه والتحفيز الذي به، التي كانت مبنية على أجزاء روكي السابقة أصلًا، والفيلم تحفيزي ويحتوي على "عدم الإستسلام"، وملئ باللحظات الحزينة والمؤثرة، ونهايته أفضل وأنسب نهاية لسلسلة أفلام روكي. وإذا رتبت أفضل أفلام روكي بالنسبة لي، فالجزء الأول في المركز الأول، وهذا الجزء في المركز الثاني، والجزء الرابع في المركز الثالث.

A fitting and dignified redemption for the character following the disastrous fifth film. Stallone leans heavily into nostalgia and melancholic drama, portraying an aging Rocky grappling with grief, loneliness, and the toll of time. Although the plot stretches credibility a bit to justify the veteran's return to the ring against a much younger champion, the film’s heart is in the right place. It serves as an honest and moving conclusion for fans of the saga.

Felt a bit like a rehash of the first film, but after whatever happened with the fifth film, I'm glad the Rocky franchise ended on a good note.

Every Rocky and Creed film made stands as a source of inspiration. As a man in my 50's, Rocky Balboa might be the most inspiring film now. Some of Stallone's best writing and his delivery of the incredible monologues he wrote are some of his best overall work. Just a great movie, even if the final destination is silly.
