Michelle G @tediously_brief Aug 25 this heartfelt feel-good romcom is exactly what the world needs. frm filmmaker q&a: • was orig. set in Camden, then moved it to Rye Lane • director Allen-Miller worked on script for 2 years w/ writers Bryon & Melia • place is the 3rd character so they needed a place that had a lot of soul • wanted to show the positive side of S London that hasn’t been seen much on film before (usually v dark & gritty) • Allen-Miller's 1st feature (prev. directed many commercials & music videos) • Oparah: "invigorated by a character who is unapologetically messy & chaotic on the page"; "it’s easy to romanticize your own life when you zoom in on something like 2 ppl having a conversation" • Allen-Miller: "where’s the darkness in it?"
