Critics Consensus

Slender Man might be thin, but he's positively robust compared to the flimsy assortment of scares generated by the would-be chiller that bears his name.

The girls are so poorly defined that they're practically interchangeable; when the bogeyman starts making them disappear one by one, you may not realize at first that any of them are gone.

Slender Man essentially feels like a movie created from a how-to guide to horror. Step one: apply drab color palette with hazy blues, greens, and neutrals. Step 2: make sure all set pieces look like generic, creepy locations.

If you thought the bogeyman was slender, wait till you see the film.

Not redeemable, not enjoyable, not so bad that it’s good, just bad in the same way as when you realize you have explosive diarrhea – there is no good time for it, and you just wish it never happened.

Slender Man aims to bring the sinister character to the big screen, but it painfully disappoints.

Slenderman deserves an opportunity to be seen as a respectable horror film. [Full Review in Spanish]

Not a bad movie at all. It's pretty creepy too. I enjoyed it for the most part.

I'm not a horror enthusiast. Or critic, just a casual movie watcher and I loved it. I got scared a couple times surprisingly, and even if it isn't entirely faithful, I honestly didn't care. I put this movie on in front of me and my friends. And every time we got scared, we kept on laughing after that

I'm very much a purist Slenderman fan who hates to see bad takes on him, so I avoided this film like the plague. However, I was pleasantly surprised by its creative visuals and top tier OST. I remember what it was like talking about Slenderman and believing in him as a kid growing up in the 2010s, and if nothing else, this movie felt just like it — a nice throwback. It doesn't have a single scare, the characters aren't deep, and it couldn't be more trite and predictable. However, I can't deny it's an interesting time capsule with enough moments of charm and creativity to stay fun. This is a middling PG-13 horror movie, but it's the absolute height of the category. You could take Slenderman seriously, or you could laugh at it. Do either when it makes sense, and you might enjoy it.

I'm so frustrated that I was so scared to watch this when I was younger, I believe that they ruined the scary vibe by turning him in to a stupid spider thingy near the end unbelievable on how they fumbled on such any awesome monster the brought fear to me and many when we were younger
