Daryl Hannah is excellent, beautiful, sweet and sexy. John Candy is hilarious, one of his best roles. This is a crowd pleaser that will make you happy. Original romantic comedy. See more Jacob B @JB3.0 Aug 18 Splash, the movie known for: being one of Tom Hanks' earliest big hits, establishing Ron Howard as a bankable director and being Disney's first film released under the Touchstone label. Does Splash still hold up? For the most part, sure. There are some aspects that have aged poorly and the ending's bittersweet implications start leaning more towards the former the more you think about them but on the whole, it's still worth watching at least once. Good chemistry between leads, memorably funny moments, Eugene Levy stealing the show in his scenes, underwater scenes that, while few, hold up well for the time and even a genre shift in the third act that I didn’t entirely see coming but still managed to avoid coming across as out of place with the lighthearted fantasy romcom the film had been presenting itself as up till that point. Tom Hanks breakout performance. Tom Candy is good too. But I never did truly like this movie that much. Its just too dumb. Especially the ending. See more Jose R @thespeeddemon Jan 8 just seen this movie last night. it was a nice touch of emotions being delivered throughout the entire film. i was a huge fan of tom hanks from the movie "BIG" so i was curious to seeing his acting skills in a romance movie. He killed it for the 80’s role. John candy was amazing in this too. Still haven’t seen young buck but i will someday! I’m a young soul. 22 years old but i love watching movies before i was even born. Seeing life and how drastically movies have changed over the decades! I would recommend this. A mad scientist is trying to prove he isn’t crazy by splashing water on madison to expose her mermaid skin. Eventually the scientist does, he seems regretful because barry was actually in love. he was waiting for love his whole life and the moment he grasped onto love; she’s a fish! what a story!
