What to Know

Critics Consensus

Though hampered by an uneven second half, Stephen King's It supplies a wealth of funhouse thrills and an indelible turn from Tim Curry as Pennywise.

Not only is the violence and gore more implied than shown, you always seem to know when it is coming and are rather prepared for it. There is little of that what-is-going-to-happen-next-I-can't-look feeling. Go to Full Review

When It sticks to the story about Pennywise preying on the town's children, the mini-series is engrossing. The actors have a rapport and their friendship is believable. Go to Full Review

Andrew A @rt_andrew 23h Pretty slight even at 3 hours, but Tim Curry is a delight See more Dustin L. @Jeffthekiller1 1d RIP to tim curry when i first saw this it had me TERRIFIED but at the same time ABSOLUTLEY loved it tim played an AWESOME old version of pennywise 10/10 See more B P @Bradster69 1d Not Bad, but Not My Favorite See more B S @staats79 1d This two-part miniseries edited together as one movie is fantastic. The all-star cast—including Jonathan Brandis, John Ritter, Richard Thomas, Annette O’Toole, and Seth Green—brings the story to life, while Tim Curry’s creepy, unpredictable, and genuinely scary Pennywise remains iconic. I love the newer It movies, but the 1990 version has a charm they can’t completely replicate. The performances, atmosphere, and distinctly ’90s feel give it a sentimental quality. Some aspects may feel dated by today’s standards, especially compared with modern horror, but that only adds to its charm. For Stephen King fans or anyone who grew up with this version, it’s worth revisiting. Tim Curry’s Pennywise alone makes it a classic. See more Eukiah V @RT38225304 3d The movie was great Tim Curry was awesome but I thought the plot was not good because the director didn't read the book and just winged it I read the book and pennywise looked kind of like the book but not quite still it was good See more Parveen W @RT56011453 6d Tim Curry as Pennywise absolutely makes this movie/ tv series what it is besides the the story itself. I watch it now more for nostalgia than anything else but I remember watching it when it came out and remember loving it See more Read all reviews
