Logan D @Greynomad38 9h I think any review of a Shaw film will mention the strong color schemes and stylized sets. No surprise I just did. And they are beautiful and appealing. It's obvious the sets are on a soundstage but it didn't distract me from being embedded in the film. Also expected are the stylized delivery of the actors, theatrical staging, and acrobatic sword fighting. The narrative is complex and a few characters disappear and never return. I also wondered why some scenes were intentionally out of focus. However, the film is so fun that didn't matter to me. Some surprises are the welcome romance between the two leads and a hard hitting statement from a promiscuous woman who wonders why women are treated differently than men in such cases. My favorite aspect was the villain, "Little Lord," played delightfully by the wonderfully stage-named Candy Man, an actress who chews the scenery every time she appears in the story. There is a twist you will not see coming. Really. See more Read all reviews
