Critics Consensus

The Age of Adaline ruminates on mortality less compellingly than similarly themed films, but is set apart by memorable performances from Blake Lively and Harrison Ford.

Adaline’s story captivated me, heart and soul, her long journey to love’s doorstep a timeless sojourn I was glad to be a part of. Go to Full Review Udita Jhunjhunwala Livemint Aug 15, 2019
The unhurried storytelling matches Adaline's endless life, making this a respectable date movie. Go to Full Review Sophie Gilbert The Atlantic Dec 31, 2015
Like Adaline, the film gives the sense of being somewhat uncomfortable in 2015, but while the movie makes a case for romanticizing the past, Adaline's story shows the limitations of detaching yourself from the present. Go to Full Review James Croot The Post NZ Oct 31, 2024

Despite a cold and off-putting third-person narration, Adaline is a film that eventually will melt the most of cynical of cinemagoers' hearts. Go to Full Review Ruth Maramis FlixChatter Film Blog Jan 10, 2024

Keith B @Okbullard Sep 16, 2026 This was such an exceptional film with amazing acting and storyline. Being a diehard action/sci-fi fan I wouldn't have bothered with a film like this 30 years ago and what a huge loss.I've seen Blake Lively in numerous films and thought she was okay but in this she far exceeded her best in the past. Harrison Ford was superb as usual and always makes it look effortless. There are a few nice twists in this one so strap in tight. Give it a look you'll probably really enjoy it. See more SSS Y @Sey369 Sep 2, 2026 This is romantic and yet subtle. It takes time to savor but also not dragging. Great pacing and captivates you through bits and pieces of moments. Great acting and chemistry between characters. This is one of the few movies I enjoyed watching it more than once. See more JD D @JDinFL Jul 20, 2026 I watched the movie - and then restarted and watched it again. I have never done that. I enjoyed it that much. Blake was captivating and I don't necessarily look for her work - but I will now! Great story, great acting. See more Carol B @RT76395206 Jul 18, 2026 I loved the movie. I thought all the actors were believable and well cast. I can’t understand how it only got a mediocre rating because it was a superb movie with a different twist that kept me interested during the whole movie. The ending was very satisfying as I couldn’t guess as to how it would end. Good movie for sure! See more Read all reviews
