Buck is a big-hearted dog whose blissful domestic life gets turned upside down when he is suddenly uprooted from his California home and transplanted to the exotic wilds of the Alaskan Yukon in the 1890s. If I had seen this film when I was a kid, it would have left an everlasting mark on my soul. As an adult, it reminded me how that age felt, and to hug my dog when I got home.
