Fifty T @RT01421419 4 hrs ago The Cycle kept me guessing, and I loved that. I never knew where the story was heading. It starts like a moody Nordic police investigation. Then it slides into horror, and it keeps shifting from there. Honestly, that's what hooked me. It's a bold swing, and for me it worked. The pacing slowed down on me in places, and I felt it. A few budget effects looked rough too. But they hurt less than you'd think, because the script is good, the performances are solid and the direction is sharp. I enjoyed every twist. The mystery held my attention, and the change in tone never felt like a gimmick to me. My one gripe? I wanted more, a lot more. You can see how good it could have been with a bigger budget and a tighter edit. 7.5/10: If you like mysteries that turn into something else, give it a go. I won't say anyone is wrong to dislike this film, but as a card carrying cinephile, I absolutely adored everything about this film. I don't know what makes me different than the people who disliked it, but I feel an urge to let people like me know that this is a great movie. I wish I knew how to predict whether you will enjoy this movie or not, but I just can't get into the heads of the people that didn't enjoy it - they might as well be alien beings as far as I'm concerned. You only know others insofar as you know yourself, and some people are just so different from me that I can't imagine what their experience watching this film was like. So, I'll just say this: if you love movies that are well-crafted, multi-layered and that exhibit an absolute love of the craft, then I recommend this movie to you.
