The Dark Tower isn't the mess that everybody is saying that it is. With its dark storyline that doesn’t hold back to spare the audience’s emotions and great special effects, this is just one of those supernatural thrillers that you can sit back and enjoy.

If you like watching Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey movies, give this one a try. However, a disclaimer - this does NOT follow the Stephen King massive Dark Tower series. The story here is encapsulated in one brief film. The action is good, and McCaughey chews up the scenery. The ending gun battle is worth the time of viewing. Again, though, do not go into this thinking it will be the beginning of the 'Dark Tower' saga.

If I had read the books, I probably would have enjoyed it way less. But in my opinion it just wasn’t nearly as bad as people have said. Though I will say I think Matthew McConaughey as the villain carries the film a good bit. It could have been better, but it still could have been a lot worse.

It's a fun watch! The story is simple and the acting is decent. It's not a blockbuster but it give that classic adventure feel. I've watched it several times and it just has something inspiring about it.
