Commuter Rachel Watson (Emily Blunt) catches daily glimpses of a seemingly perfect couple, Scott and Megan, from the window of her train. One day, Watson witnesses something shocking unfold in the backyard of the strangers' home. Rachel tells the authorities what she thinks she saw after learning that Megan is now missing and feared dead. Unable to trust her own memory, the troubled woman begins her own investigation, while police suspect that Rachel may have crossed a dangerous line.

This movie runs into problems because it goes back and forth in time, alternates from the point of view of three characters, with the girl on the train being the main character, and then she is mainly drunk and confused. Suspense movies often are puzzles that do not follow linear time and flip whose eyes you are seeing it through. This one though goes too far because you want to watch someone else being drunk and not feel like you are drunk. Two of the three women are histrionic even if a male character is supposed to be the main villain and those two have knowingly cheated with a married man and one of the them is also married. To me, that makes them somewhat unlikable even though I think the filmmakers want us to see them as just victims. Women actually do have some agency. Despite all these misgivings, it still kept me engaged partly because of Emily Blunt's acting and some interesting twists and turns. So, I still gave it 2.5 stars.

Blunt is outstanding. Creepy throughout, heartbreaking to the end. Identifying with at least one of these characters in the movie is eerie and adds to the emotional weight of this film. Recommend watching film from start to finish without pause. And if you are a fan of the train along the Hudson to NYC, you will not look out the window the same as before.

Amazing film, the twists and turns are so unexpected and the ending is even better. The subplots are great and keep you questioning everyone the enter time even Rachel herself. I highly recommend this if you enjoy murder mystery, crime or thriller movies because it keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time.
