Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) lives in a seemingly idyllic world of conformity and contentment. When he begins to spend time with The Giver (Jeff Bridges), an old man who is the sole keeper of the community's memories, Jonas discovers the dangerous truths of his community's secret past. Armed with the power of knowledge, Jonas realizes that he must escape from their world to protect himself and those he loves -- a challenge no one has ever completed successfully.

Precision of language? They should have had more precision of aim. I wanted to see Jonas get shot more, and I am very disappointed that I didn't get to see him mutilated. I'm also sad that I didn't get to see the beautiful romance scene between The giver and Jonas. I love you Jonas. Geez I'm such a critic.

This movie is one of the worst renditions of the giver by Lois Lowry I have ever seen. First off they change at least 50 things about the story within the first 30 minutes. Phillip Noyce had one job and he did not do it well. and he removed the suspenseful ending. worst movie I've ever seen.

It is just terrible, probably one of the worst most pointless and meaningless films I've ever seen. There is nothing to grasp or hold onto, everything is generic, and the performances are horrible. It moves way too fast for what is supposed to be a character driven story about society. It completely ruins the point of the ending and turns into a generic love and friendship story in the end just slapping a good book as the title.

This movie is so garbage I threw up this movie took away from the great potential that the book had DO NOT WATCH IF YOU READ THE BOOK this is horrible and left me flabbergasted at how they could mess up so badly. ALSO the pace is really bad they skipped so many scenes and just changed everything. this movie is pure unhappiness
