After Part II repeated the original so closely, this one at least tries a different structure with more of a crime-comedy plot. Zach Galifianakis still has funny moments as Alan, especially in small bursts of strange line readings, emotional immaturity, and total lack of self-awareness. Ken Jeong brings manic energy as Mr. Chow, and John Goodman adds some threat and weight as Marshall. The problem is that Alan and Chow become too much. Both characters were funnier when used carefully, but here they take up so much space that the movie becomes exhausting. Alan feels more obnoxious than lovable, and Chow’s chaos starts to feel repetitive. The darker action-crime tone also does not fully fit these characters. There are things to appreciate, but this is a disappointing and uneven final entry. See more Diego P @Sakuta01003 Jun 20 Chow outdid himself, this is his movie and I love that, he stole it perfectly. This definitely has its funny moments but instead if being the comedy we love, it's just a crime thriller like the second one. Also, why was Jade's payoff in this film instead of the second one? Her story with Stu should've been more in-depth in the second one, I'm glad that she got some sort of payoff but it should've been done in Part II and better. Zach Galifianakis and Ken Jeong are also just unbearable at this point. And it started from the second film as well. I know there was a tease for Part IV but after these two sequels thank god we don't have a Part IV still. This also should've been the foreshadow of how Todd Phillips is not great with sequels and I am saying this because I'm one of the many that saw Joker 2. With how bad that movie was, we all should've seen it coming with these two Hangover sequels. It leans more towards action but the mix feels wrong, and the comedy falls flat. The dialogues are bad and not funny, Alan is more obnoxious than ever, to the point where no sane person would ever tolerate him (not to mention leave him alone with a small child, ever!).
