Following her rescue from the devastating Quarter Quell, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) awakes in the complex beneath the supposedly destroyed District 13. Her home, District 12, has been reduced to rubble, and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) is now the brainwashed captive of President Snow (Donald Sutherland). At the same time, Katniss also learns about a secret rebellion spreading throughout all of Panem -- a rebellion that will place her at the center of a plot to turn the tables on Snow.

Mockingjay Part 1 is not a flawless story from start to finish ... but I still love it for taking the unexpected route of a slow-burn political thriller that dives deeper into the power of intellectual and media-driven warfare.

Set aside criticisms about dividing the final film. Mockingjay Part 1 is a serviceable extrapolation of the series' interest in personal vs public responsibility & PTSD. The adult cast is stacked, though dir Lawrence's focus is clearly action over actors

Mockingjay – Part 1 disappointed me after Catching Fire left me eager to continue. The answers I wanted arrive quickly, but the film then spends far too much time on repeated movement and propaganda recordings before anything truly gripping happens. There is one genuinely tense sequence that reminded me how effective this series can be, yet the wait to reach it felt excessive. More than anything, the split into two films feels unnecessary to me. I kept thinking this material could have worked better as part of one longer movie instead of being stretched into a full chapter. Katniss is still the only character who feels truly developed, while too many others remain defined by their role around her. It has strong moments, but it feels more like preparation for the next film than a complete experience of its own.

This one gets into the weeds a little. Solid story IF you buy into Katniss' incredulous distress over Peeta's mistreatment by the capital. A few brilliant moments I suspect are thanks to screenwriter Peter Craig.

Este filme parece ser mais uma grande preparação para o que está por vir. Sinto que não gostei tanto quanto esperava. O final tem uma grande reviravolta, mas, fora isso, o filme não tem muito a oferecer. Parece novo, mas é entediante. Realmente não tenho muito mais a dizer.
