Sam P @laniakea May 28 The Lie asks you to suspend disbelief to such absurd lengths that it becomes genuinely insulting. The plot lurches from one implausible decision to the next, relying entirely on characters behaving in ways no rational human being ever would. It's the kind of film that mistakes "twist" for "logic" and "dark" for "deep." Yet more Hollywood garbage featuring rich white people floating through their impossibly perfect, expensively furnished lives as if we're supposed to care about their problems. Every time you think it can't stretch credibility any further it somehow does, and not in a thrilling way, just a groan-inducing one. The premise had potential, but the execution is so riddled with plot holes and lazy writing that any goodwill evaporates within the first act.
