In the pulse-pounding psychological thriller The Runner, Maia Marten (Gal Gadot) has built her life on being one step ahead -- a sharp, resourceful, high-powered lawyer at the top of London's legal world. During her routine morning run, a single phone call shatters her world: her son has been taken. The instructions to get him back are simple and merciless -- keep moving, follow every command, and tell no one. Stop, and he dies. Forced to sprint through the city and obey a series of sinister commands, Maia must confront an impossible question: how far will she go to bring her son home? The Runner’s slick design and technical contributions do not transcend the outward packaging for a potboiler with scant substance beneath. Not much helping is Tom Hodge’s score, the percussive thrust of which sounds mostly driven by bongoes.

I watched it with a positive mind but unfortunately ended up with migraine. The opening scenes were good however as the movie progressed, the irritating camera work and jarring music simply spoilt my expectations. The scenes where Gal runs after the train were the worst. On top of that, the unbelievable ending didn't hold up. I wonder how, with all her previous experience, Gal agreed to such a weak script defies logic.

This movie is literally like a staple. You need to watch it. Haters on gonna hate on Gal Gadot and the Gal Gadot hate train is so forced like grow up she's good at what she does. Anyways the movie was so good like you could see how she was desperately trying to get back at her kid and the amount of running this woman did #wow.

Rest assured the horrible ratings have nothing to do with this movie. It’s just misery people with so much vitriol in their hearts. For the sane folks, this movie is a solid one. A great thriller with a good story, good acting and great pacing. I believe you will enjoy it.

Almost every scene feels like Gal’s just reciting her lines rather than actually being the character. There’s barely any emotion behind her reactions and even the bigger moments feel strangely flat. It’s hard to stay invested when the lead performance feels this lifeless.
