Critics Consensus

For those who Dare to Dream of a worthy dramatic adaptation of The Secret, this sodden romance will prove a disappointment too painful to visualize.

"The Secret: Dare to Dream" wants to remind us of those bland, coastal Nicholas Sparks romances where white, pretty people don resort wear to take walks on beaches and barbecue shrimp together.

If you're looking for 107 minutes of utter pabulum disguised as a motion picture with characters and a plot, well, you should "Dare to Dream" no more.

It's otherwise an admirably mellow experience... But zoomed out just a bit, Dare to Dream reveals more insidious dimensions.

I don't know that the writers - Tennant shares credit with Rick Parkes and Bekah Brunstetter - intend to break as many hearts as they might when real-life viewers don't get, as one character does, the pony they wish for.

While 'The Secret' doesn't tell you what you don't know already, it does so with simplicity and sensitivity. Overall, it's a well-meaning film that gives you cosmic hope

A much better movie than reflected in some of the reviews here. There are a couple of surprises, not the least of which is what is in the envelope? It's a little bit of a tearjerker...it is a romantic drama after all. Not a comedy--is THAT the complaint? I've watched it twice, several years apart, and it still stands up. Definitely worth a watch, in my opinion.

I absolutely loved this movie. It was a breath of fresh air after all of these romantic movies that have to have sex involved.

I do not understand all the bad reviews from critics because this is an excellent movie. Nothing wrong with a movie that emphasizes hope. It is a movie, therefore, a work of fiction. Today in 2026, I am betting a whole lot of people are searching for hope. Even if it is for just a little while. I love this movie.

I dont know why all the bad reviews, I absolutely love this movie. It's one of my favorites. The acting is great, the writing is good and it's a great reminder to have faith, hope and look for your joy. Maybe bad reviews because they're mainly male reviews. I think this is a great movie for women who love romance and hope. And I think many of can relate to.the struggles we all face. And men too who love romance. Beautiful. It also contains a song that I love.

I was prepared to like this movie. Until the plot got stupid in the first 15 minutes. Hurricanes come in late summer. New Orleans has temperatures of 95 degrees and warmer. So why were characters wearing sweaters and jackets? smdh...
