Martin R 6d Decent for a made for TV movie on Gambling addiction from 1984 - and a solid cast . Considering the predilection of gambling through betting apps and gambling ads ( and TV promoting it instead of addressing it); this film holds up as a rare effort to deal with its subject. Valerie Bertinelli captures the personality of someone who has lost control without even understanding what is happening to her. The real conversations about addiction and the character working through the issues are not addressed. The film thus feels incomplete. And the film is written like a prime time after school special - if not cringeworthy it gets very cliche. But overall Bertinelli makes us empathize with her and the film while incomplete does what it tries to do effectively.
