Lean and solidly crafted, The Shallows transcends tired shark-attack tropes with nasty thrills and a powerful performance from Blake Lively.

[A] reasonably entertaining, imprudently daft aquatic thriller. Go to Full Review

The realism of the early scenes -- leaving aside Nancy's unaccountable willingness to be stranded alone in a remote place -- is replaced by increasingly silly scenes that lead eventually to a nonsensical conclusion. Go to Full Review

About half of what is now going on in all cinema is the product of technological advances in film-making and The Shallows makes much more intelligent use of them than the superheroes do. Go to Full Review

The shock value action is just what you want in this kind of movie and the stings linger like a knife slowly continuing to twist inside a wound. Go to Full Review

“The Shallows” wisely stays true to its central concept. Its hook could easily wear thin if it extended itself too far, but the compact 80 minute running time keeps the tension high and the story moving forward. Go to Full Review

Astrid H @RT10795067 22h It's laughingly bad but entertaining non the less See more Michael E @RT67051218 Mar 29 Good entertainment. Shark behaviour very questionable, like Jaws. Worrh watching. See more matthias S @Thescreenasvor Mar 20 I went into *The Shallows* thinking it’d be a pretty intense survival movie, but it honestly just confirmed I’m not really a fan of Blake Lively. The idea is actually cool—a surfer stuck in the water with a shark—but the way it plays out feels kinda underwhelming. Some parts drag, and instead of being tense, it just gets a bit boring at times. It looks nice visually, I’ll give it that, but that’s not enough to save it. Overall, it’s okay for a one-time watch, but nothing special and pretty forgettable. See more Zone S @RT65676076 Mar 20 This Film was PAINFUL to watch! The complete lack of real world shark behavior is baffling. I get it, theres alot of horror movies around sharks. But this film looked different. And the setting was more immersive to real life scenerio's. It's like they had somebody who knew there stuff but than they put him or her on mute early on. This "shark" or great white completely ignores a MASSIVE Whale carcass to go after a surfer. The sharks there cause of the whale, idk to top it all of, Instead of saving the film early on, by showing the shark feeding on the whale, they than made the shark into an Orca trying to knock the human off the perfectly good whale carcass meal. I would have maybe thought okay, maybe they wanted to make it intense for the shark to go after her instead of the easy meal. Than It showed the shark feeding off the whale until the guys came back to try and save her or something. But nah idk See more Dean B. @MovieGeek08 Mar 9 Awesome, gripping, suspenseful! Blake Lively's performance is amazing! Great message too. Recommended watch. On Prime Video for free rn See more Julia D @Juliaaaaa_2222 Mar 1 This movie is so bad lol.
