The result is a hugely confident, mostly absorbing blend of psychodrama and apocalyptic Western. It's claustrophobic, bleakly astringent and not for all tastes -- but it marks Fingleton out as a promising new voice.

THE SURVIVALIST is well acted, well directed, and well produced, but who cares? It falls extremely deep into the category of exceedingly grim, tortured and depressing. If you want to feel bad and waste time spending it in hopelessness and never resurfacing, THIS IS VERY MOST CERTAINLY IT.

Exceptionally well done and well conceived, but possibly the grimmest movie I have ever seen. As post apocalyptic movies go, this one makes The Road look like Mary Poppins. I couldn't deal with the incessant misery.

A guy gets by just fine by himself for 7 years. Then a couple women show up it goes downhill from there. I'm being cheeky but the movie was superbly done.

It’s so typical of Irish made movies- they carry this air of depression that gets you a nomination but not an award. Some good camera and the male lead has a good presence but I can’t finish it.
