Media mogul Elliot Carver (Jonathan Pryce) wants his news empire to reach every country on the globe, but the Chinese government will not allow him to broadcast there. Carver doesn't take no for an answer and plans to use his media empire to fuel flames of war between the Western world and China. Thankfully, James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) is on to the insane news tycoon and travels to China to stop him with the help of Chinese secret agent Wai Lin (Michelle Yeoh).

After weeks of media bombardment with Tomorrow Never Dies product tie-in commercials, it's clear that the studio and the film's producers have reinvented movie promotion. Now they need to focus their efforts on reinventing the Bond movies.

A very entertaining clownish entry in the Bond universe. It takes itself seriously while obvious holes in the narrative abound all over the place. That said, its very enjoyable.

Tomorrow Never Dies is Pierce Brosnan's second worst Bond film imo. Elliot Carver carried this movie, and him mocking Wai Lin with kung-fu was pretty funny.

Rating: 6.6/10 ⭐️ Continuing my Brosnan binge for 007: First Light release celebration. Thought a media villain would feel dated, but the fake news plot totally hits different today. What Worked: • Yeoh is incredible. She holds her own, and that motorcycle chase is a massive highlight. • Since I tune my own car, seeing Bond drift a BMW from the backseat is my ultimate dream mod. • Pryce brings fun energy to Carver. His wild WWIII plan for TV rights is totally entertaining. The Friction: • The pacing really dragged for me before Bond and Wai Lin finally team up. • The stealth boat finale was too chaotic. I honestly wanted a tighter showdown over endless explosions. Verdict: Watch for a fun 90s ride. Skip if you honestly hate over-the-top plots.
