AC C @Mon_Alisa 2d This one had all the suspense and excitement I love (though not the mooost believable). With an undercover recon mission, a sub switcheroo, and depth charge scenes where you’re actually holding your breath, I was overall very pleased. See more SurvivorAlways 7 @MyLife4Me79 4d U-571 may not be a true story but it’s based on many missions just like it. It’s a really suspenseful and fast paced movie. I’ve seen it a few times and it holds up well, this many years later. Mathew McConaughey and Harvey Keitel both doing great work here. The entire supporting cast is doing a wonderful job as well. Once the action starts, it never lets up and through out all the action and chaos, we get to see characters grow. The lead character becomes the leader he always thought he was. Really a great watch. See more Janak D @62Orka Jul 6 A bit expactable plot. Not the most thrilling story, but a good watch none the less See more Michael C @Michael71 Jul 3 "U-571" is another case where I am giving a movie a slightly higher rating than it should because of the excellent job by the cast. Cast is not the only thing this World War 2 epic has going for it. The movie does have its share of thrilling action sequences. It is also very well made. I found myself interested in the movie from start to finish which is always a good sign. I especially liked the sequences where U-571 was forced to dive to dangerously low depths to avoid the depth charges dropped by a Nazi destroyer. On the other hand such sequences are the source of my criticism of the movie. I think there were times where those sequences were drawn out more than necessary. Still despite this problem, twenty-six years after its release U-571 is a very well made movie with a very good cast. I still enjoy watching it as I feel it has stood the test of time. Despite the movie's problems I highly recommend it. See more Korben D @Korbendallas506 Mar 24 U-571 is a well-crafted submarine thriller elevated by Matthew McConaughey’s strong lead performance, but the over-the-top explosions and familiar action beats eventually lose focus, preventing it from rising above a solid but unremarkable 6/10. See more Meri S. @mschroeder Feb 18 Not my type of movie. Lots of explosions, etc. some of it seemed a little hokey. Not to generalize, but probably more of a guy movie. See more Read all reviews
