Critics Consensus

xXx: Return of Xander Cage should satisfy fans of the first two installments, but its preponderance of set pieces can't quite make up for a tired storyline that fails to take the franchise -- or action fans -- anywhere new.

If it isn't a crime to chop up the beautiful fight choreography of Donnie Yen into unintelligible ribbons, well, it ought to be.

This is only slightly less dumb and nonsensical than the previous films, but it teems with thrilling action sequences and rollicking stunt work from the middle-aged Diesel and martial artist Donnie Yen.

Hardcore porn for action junkies, xXx: Return of Xander Cage should also get a rise out of more casual viewers burned out on Oscar bait and looking for a mindless time at the movies.

Since the majority of the movie resembles a long, stylized music video, the DJ just might be the most important recruit of them all.

It's an action film. Nothing more. Nothing less. Okay, maybe a little bit less.

Good lord, the first scene was awful. The side window had no action, so when the cars and people walked by the other window, the cars and people disappeared into nothing. The fact the Samuel Jackson was killed in the first scene was a joke. They paid him for two minutes and then he was gone until……no spoilers. That Neymar bit? Why? I Then you get a lot of action and some bad guys that need to be dealt with and of course here comes Vin. I think the film just needed a better script and less action. Dialogue and character building would have helped. I won’t spoil the rest but trust me, it’s not that interesting. And did anyone else think Diesel was a bit plump? I did like the fact that Miss Colombia and first runner up in Miss Universe Ariadna Gutierrez was in the film but she was just a pretty prop. These people just needed money.
