All this is recalled in highly entertaining fashion, the highlights on ice interspersed with the warm memories of the players, many of whom still harbor mixed feelings about Brooks. Go to Full Review

It tells the story the same way most of the other Miracle on Ice docs have, complete with most of the same people saying most of the same things. Go to Full Review

There are moments in individual lives that become historic and take on much larger significance, and the US Olympic hockey team's 1980 win was one of those. Go to Full Review

Aside from entertaining accounts of the tough-nut team coach, Herb Brooks, who died in 2003, directors Max Gershberg and Jake Rogal fail to lift their film above rote recapping. Go to Full Review

It does not argue that sports can fix political rifts or resurrect lost unity. Instead, it suggests something smaller and more honest: that shared belief, briefly aligned, can disrupt systems that seem immovable. Go to Full Review

Daniel H @DanEagleLake 3d This film is terrific - - nostalgic (for me), emotional, dramatic, and exciting. It probably helps to have lived through it 45 years ago. It should be noted that the game was played in the late afternoon (not on TV), and then only broadcast on ABC during prime time. I recall coming home from work and hearing it on the radio, and listening to it as it happened. Quite a thrill. I was also in Minnesota (U. of Minn. graduate), so the connection to half of the team and Coach Herb Brooks was a plus. The best (and most emotional) parts of the film were seeing some of the players re-live their connections to their parents as they were growing up, getting into playing hockey, and sharing the glory with them in 1980 and beyond. I think it is a must-see in the pantheon of sports docs. Just the chance to see that Mike Eruzione goal one more time was worth the time. See more Sally M @Sally369 Feb 8 I LOVED this movie and found it heart-warming to see the players both now and back in the day when they were watching their families in the stands. 1980 was a totally different vibe from today and it was such FUN to see their triumph! I'm not a hockey buff but watching these kids beat the pants off of the Russians was hot! See more Pablo G. @KingPablo Feb 7 Love the player commentary. See more John C. @jccracraft Feb 7 I am a Minnesotan. I was 16 at the time. I do remember where I was the day we beat the Russians. A little bit forgotten in the story is the malaise weighing on the country at the time. This documentary brings that out to a greater degree. I don’t think it can be understated how emotional people felt when the USA won. I visited lake placid a couple summers ago. Still got goose bumps. See more Kirk J. @kirkjurg42 Feb 7 Fantastic Documentary. Very well made. See more Read all reviews
